PAN Amsterdam 2024
Rutger Brandt Gallery is excited to announce its participation in PAN Amsterdam 2024!
We will be showcasing new work by Jan Kuhlemeier & Johannes Daniel.
Dutch artist, Jan Kuhlemeier blends multiple layers of pigment on the canvas to explore the boundaries between painting and other media. He meticulously searches for specific hues and color nuances, using his unique technique to merge energy, motion, and color. This approach allows him to create vibrant landscapes inspired by the geographical places he has visited. Through his blending technique, Kuhlemeier blurs the line between painting and object, pushing the traditional limits of the art form.
Johannes Daniel is a German artist based in Leipzig who creates large-scale graphic paintings that depict fragmented human figures. He paints dreamy liquid worlds through fluid lines and pastel color that are contrasted with harsher graffiti and urban aesthetics.
Daniel's artistic process involves collaging drawings, text, and photographs. He achieves a multi-layered effect through a unique interplay of painting and digital manipulation. Daniel’s work is influenced by his extensive archive of collected materials including lyrics, poems, magazines, fashion, photographs, and music videos . This diverse array of influences lends his work a contemporary and multifaceted feel, creating artworks that are rich in context and modern in their sensibility.
